Chiropractic Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a safe and effective form of treatment. It is a highly skilled and specific force applied to a joint to restore full range of motion.

The sudden stretch of the tissue surrounding a joint can also release any adhesions or scar tissue and promote proper bio-mechanical function of the area. The ‘popping’ or ‘cracking’ sound that you hear is gas being released from the joint.

This allows for fluid to enter the joint and can promote nourishment inside the joint capsule. Adjustments are a safe mode of treatment and often give patients immediate relief afterwards.

Medical Acupuncture

Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique, in which fine solid needles (acupuncture needles) are inserted into anatomically defined neurofunctional sites, and stimulated manually or with electricity for the therapeutic purpose of modulating abnormal activity of the nervous system and/or the endocrine, immune systems, and pain syndromes.

Osteopathy is a manual therapy method that assesses and treats how the body functions as whole. According to the Principles of Osteopathic philosophy when its structure and tissues are in balance the body has an innate ability to heal itself.

Its main role is to restore the proper balance and function of the body, allowing it to heal through its own natural processes. The Osteopathic Manual Practitioner works to balance the nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems improving the range of motion and relieving discomfort or other symptoms.

The osteopathic Practitioner will work to find and release any restrictions or dysfunctions that are getting in the way of your body’s own balance process. They do this by using a variety of manual techniques that help promote self-healing.

Massage and Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands on therapy that can provide relief from neck pain, headaches and other spinal pain. It helps release tension in your body's fascia (connective tissue). Our bodies are interconnected structurally and functionally, meaning one area of the body can affect another. The goal of CST is to release the fascia to help other connected parts of the body function better.

Cupping Therapy

Cherryhill Chiropractic has recently added cupping therapy to the clinic. Although cupping may be seen as a trendy fad in North America, this kind of Therapy has been used in Egyption, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures dating back to 1550 BC.

This technique is used to relieve injured or sore muscles by bringing more blood flow, nutrients and oxygen to the damaged area. We use dry cupping at Cherryhill Chiropractic, which is actually a vacuum type technique to suck the skin up into the cup, this causes blood to flow to the injured area.

The therapy may leave some markings, which indicates that toxins have been released from the damaged tissue. These markings are not bruises but my have bruise like appearance.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

IASTM is a Soft tissue Technique that uses hand held tools that clinicians use to treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction. We use this technique in combination with exercise and joint mobilization in order to produce any changes within the muscle.

This tool is designed to treat areas with soft tissue adhesions, chronic inflammation, or degeneration. It achieves this by breaking down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. This controlled microtrauma to the soft tissue is creating a local inflammatory response.

This response will facilitate a healing process within the area to actively reabsorb any scar tissue or any other excessive connective tissue that has been formed by your body.

This Process will help increase range of motion, decrease chronic inflammation, and increase overall function of the soft tissue.

Therapeutic Exercise

Exercise has been proven to be a vital aspect of the rehabilitation process. Rehab for most injuries should involve active treatment. Here at Cherryhill Chiropractic we give our patients the tools and education in order to not only help recover from pain faster, but also to prevent re-injury and avoid further injury.

We also strongly recommend and often prescribe prehab as a preventative measure to keep your body performing optimally during exercise and everyday activity.
